Mavs Knock Off Nets On Wednesday

Jason Kidd led a balanced attack with 20 points, nine assists, four rebounds and four steals as the Mavericks won their 13th straight game with a 96-87 victory over New Jersey on Wednesday at the American Airlines Center.  Caron Butler added 18 points for the Mavs, who haven't lost a game since February 16th at Oklahoma City.  Dallas, which sits six games ahead of San Antonio atop the Southwest Division at 45-and-21 on the season, continues a four-game homestand on Saturday versus the New York Knicks.

Sabres Skate Past Stars

Thomas Vanek scored the go-ahead goal midway through the second period as the Sabres beat the Stars 5-3 at HSBC Arena.  Tyler Myers tallied a goal and three assists, and Mark Mancari scored once and assisted on another for Buffalo.  Jason Pominville lit the lamp with 57 seconds left in the first to knot the game at three for the Sabres.  Derek Roy concluded the scoring with an empty-netter in the final seconds, and Ryan Miller finished with 17 saves, as Buffalo won its third straight to reclaim the Northeast Division lead over Ottawa.  Toby Petersen, Steve Ott and Jamie Benn scored in the first for Dallas, which has lost four-of-five.  Marty Turco made 38 saves in defeat.  The Stars host the Los Angeles Kings tomorrow night.

M's Double Up Rangers On Wednesday

Mike Sweeney went 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 6-3 win over the Texas Rangers in Cactus League action on Wednesday.  Ray Olmedo collected three hits for Texas.  C.J. Wilson got the start for the Rangers and gave up two runs in three innings.  Texas will head south to Tucson today when they square off against the Colorado Rockies.

Longhorns Hold Off Pesky Cyclones

Damion James poured in 28 points and pulled down 16 rebounds as Texas outlasted a pesky Iowa State team 82-75 in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday.  Gary Johnson added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the sixth-seeded Longhorns, who will face third-seeded and 20th-ranked Baylor this evening.  Baylor beat Texas twice during the regular season.  Tonight's game begins at 8:30 p.m.
